For those who can’t wait till summer, an Easter sun getaway may be just what you need.
Wizz Air has not only looked into which beaches are most and least crowded but also researched average temperatures and sunshine hours for April to uncover the best-hidden spots for some shoulder-season sunshine.
To determine the least overcrowded beaches, Wizz Air analysed over 50 European countries and their top beaches.
The airline estimated how much space each beach offers per person by measuring the beach, dividing its area by the size of a beach towel, and then dividing that by the average number of daily visitors. Temperatures and beach space were then ranked, giving each destination an overall score out of 50, with higher scores indicating better destinations.
By combining these insights with weather data, Wizz Air has revealed the ideal destinations that offer not only plenty of room to relax but also the perfect conditions to start your summer early.

According to our research, Nissi Beach close to Ayia Napa, Cyprus is the best place for some early sun in April.
Although it’s one of Cyprus’s most popular beaches, its 600-metre length provides ample space for visitors.
If you enjoy a livelier atmosphere and plenty of space, Nissi Beach is a great choice for a spring getaway. In April, it offers pleasantly warm weather, with average temperatures of 17°C, highs reaching 22°C and around 9 hours of sunshine per day.
- Playa d’en Bossa, Ibiza, Spain
In second place was Playa d’en Bozza in Ibiza Spain. Ibiza is a great place to go in shoulder season throughout April. As the longest beach in Ibiza, it offers plenty of room for visitors to spread out and find their own spot to relax, even though it’s one of the island’s most popular destinations.
With temperatures averaging at around 16°C, highs reaching 19°C and around 10 hours of sunshine per day, April is a great time to visit Ibiza. With it being before peak season, you can also enjoy the island’s stunning beaches and attractions without the summer rush.

With temperatures averaging at around 15°C, highs reaching 17°C and around 8.4 hours of sunshine per day, April is a great time to visit Ramatuelle if you’re looking to escape the grey clouds of the UK.
